Helpful Hints

1) Have your Water Heater Inspected Every 10 Years For Safety.

Water heaters can become potentially hazardous when sediment, rust, or leaks occur. If not properly maintained gas leaks or electrical shorts could even potentially start a fire. Rather than take this risk it is recommended that you have your water heater inspected every ten years or less by a State Certified Licensed Plumber. Power Rooter Plumbing will be happy to inspect your water heater during any service call and can fix any problems quickly.

2) Save Money & Hassle, Don't Flush These Items...

Paper Towels, Feminine Products, and Kleenex will clog your toilets and drain pipes. To avoid calling us DON'T FLUSH THESE ITEMS!!! Double ply toilet paper sometimes doesn't dissolve fast enough which can cause stoppage and require an unnecessary visit from a plumber.

3) Garbage Disposals:

Most garbage disposals are not designed to dispose of eggshells, vegetable peelings of any kind, rice, noodles, meat, or any food for that matter. Many people manage to force these food products down their disposal. However, to prolong the life of your garbage disposal and avoid costly visits from a plumber make use of your trash can instead.

4) Dishwasher:

A small 3/4 inch drain line is all that connects your dishwasher to the garbage disposal. For longer life of all your appliances run your garbage disposal with the water running for 30 seconds before using your dishwasher to remove any remaining food particles. It is best to rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher regardless of what the dishwasher salesman told you.

5) Outside Faucets

In the last ten years Texas Building Code has required frostproof hosebibs on all new construction. If you leave a hose connected to a hose bib and water is in the hose during a freeze the frostproof faucets will actually burst. So disconnect all hoses during the winter unless they are in use and use an insulating cover (cone).
